Critique Club Comment.
Hi,
I picked your photo for a critique so lets start.
Please keep in mind that this is still a personal opinion, and in no way I know better then anybody else, but I will try to help you to improve your score.
First of al your subject.
It meets the challenge, it is glass, but as has been said, it could also be ice.
You need to try to create impact into your subject if you want to get higher votes.
Keep in mind that voters need to vote on a lot of photoĂ¢€™s so most of them will score you in just 2 seconds.
The lighting could be improved a bit too, as could the background.
Bright colours score well here at DPC, Blue, Red, Yellow etc.
I am sure that if you had used a piece of bright blue or yellow paper as the background that your score would go up almost a point.
Last thing I want to talk about is the lighting, because the top corner of the picture is very dark and there is some noise and lines in that dark.
Again, this is all just personal opinion, but I hope it helps you somewhat.
If you have any comments or questions or want to yell at me, you can PM me.
Looking forward to your next entry
Peter

A nice shot, let down just a little by the loss of focus at the tip of the glass. I can never get that right with macro shots either!
I might have framed it a little differently, perhaps with the glass at more of an angle and filling less of the frame.
But it's a great choice of subject matter for a macro shot - lots of stuff to look at in the broken edge of the glass. |

Nice detail of the glass edge. There appears to be quite a bit of noise in the shot, though it could just be my crappy monitor :) |

An interesting composition - I like the light coming from the right and highlighting that edge. I think I may prefer a less-textured backing, though. |

Nice, it looks like an iceberg or glacier. The background is a little splotchy, I think a uniform, clean background would make this image pop more. |

too noisy and there are weird red lines in the upper right hand corner. better lighting could have made this pretty cool. |

You choose a hard subject to depict! It needs a sharper version to me, with more DOF. |
