| Nice flower, but it's a bit dark. A little more nicely diffused light would brighten things up a bit. |

The focus could be much sharper for this subject. Although the background is blurred it still contains distracting elements which hurt a flower shot, IMO. Particularly bothersome is the band of green in the lower right corner. My eye keeps wandering to that area. The leaves behind the petals create distracting verticals that don't enhance the subject for me. When I shoot flowers I like to eliminate as much distracting detail as possible, concentrating soley on the petals. This usually requires a closer crop and getting right on the ground and shooting up.
This is fairly ho-hum to me in terms of subject matter and composition. |

| Good overall composition, nice use of DOF. I like the way you can still see the stems even though they are not totally in focus |
