Ok, another flower shot but couldn't resist as I was shooting for the flower challenge and this came straight out of the camera wonderfully, at least to my mind. Voters might get too over flowered-out by now but I like this a lot. So will take my chances.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Well, your commentors gave it to you straight. This very nice image suffered from "blob in the foreground." You accidentally created a barrier that made it hard to get at the beauty of that pink flower and flower stem in the middle ground.

I tend to forget sometimes that it's okay to do a little groundskeeping. If only with a clothspin (or the like) to keep intrusive vegetation out of the way of the subject.

I'd probably suggest a little more focus on that pretty pink flower, either by use of a tripod or waiting for any wind to die down for that split second you need to make it sharper.

And finally, (I know, enough already!) you might try cropping out that partial blue flower on the left. This would concentrate the viewers attention on that lovely pink flower that I think you want as your focal point. See what you think. Is it better? Or not?

Still, I'm glad to have seen this image. Not only does it make me nostalgic for what I think may be peonies, but it makes me see this lovely garden spot through your eyes. Thank you!

Alice

In this challenge, I looked for good composition/in-camera framing - in this picture, the OOF leaves in the foreground are a bit overwhelming for my taste, pulling the eye away from the rose.

I like everything about this photo except the OOF green blob in the foreground.

The foregraound blur in the bottom left of this image is very distracting. I wonder what this image would have looked like if the photographer moved a few feet to the right and took a clear shot?

The blurred flower in front is distracting. Really nice colors of the pink one.
