Nice composition.

I'd suggest four changes, all of which occur when you take the shot:
1) Try either shooting when the sun's not so high or use a fill flash
2) Check the focus and retake when it's not sharp (if you can, zoom in while in review mode to see what's sharp). Try to focus on eyes instead of noses.
3) Be careful with the highlights. In some cameras, the review mode will show you areas that are blown out. If so, try underexposing or set the exposure for his shirt instead of the center of the picture.
4) Try to get him against all sky or all water. The horizon cutting through his head is distracting.

With those, I would've bumped from a 4 to a 6.
