The town where I live has a single wind turbine that can be seen from the motorway. It is also very easily accessible on an office park. Having wanted an excuse to shoot this for a while, this seemed like a great opportunity.

As I believe that there is always a price to pay for progress, I wanted to make the picture "dark", maybe a little foreboding in a kind of science fiction way. Given the day was very overcast and that the colour of the wind turbine was grey/green, converting to black and white seemed obvious, if not essential. My daughter thinks this looks like a scene from a Gus van Sant film.

I think too much highlight and shadow was used for processing this image. I wish I could see more detail in the turbine but great placement in the thirds. (5)

Sorry but not at all fond of the strong halo around the subject, definately a turnoff for me personally, would have given a 5 but that knocked you down to a 4.

I love the way this mill glows, the of center placement, and the sky.

Kind of a weird glow around the windmill, but I guess that lends to the concept of "power". Does meet the challenge.

No question about it...we should follow this path more vigorously. Nice photo!

Good idea but the sky isn't very interesting.
