I'm astounded at how many negative comments are made regarding narrow DOF in the challenges.
It's like porn.
Leave something for the imagination!
Part of our job as artists (take note of your title...) is to paint with colour and shape.
And oftentimes one's narrow DOF is going to be the best, nee, only way to achieve this.

But then, that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

Good DOF and BW. Great composition. Well done. 9

From your title, you meant the DOF. Fine. But the extremely shallow DOF destroys some of the perspective. The pipes then become part of a flat background instead of drawing the eye deeper into the distance.

Good B&W contrast, DOF and composition. The off-center border takes some getting used to though.

I like the DOF, b/w tone, and how it almost has an abstract look to it, especially on the left side. Technically a great photo, but does lack a little "pop/wow factor" IMO.

nice shot. the perspective effect of those nice long pipes (intentionally) muted by the shallow dof sort of tanks it for me
