OK, so she's not really 10. I wasn't going to enter, but the urge struck a few hours ago, so I baked a cake, and here we are. I may not ribbon, but the prop was yummy! ;-)

Processing: Levels, USM, HSB, dodge & burn, spot hue adjustments, cloned a few small spots on the cake, and a little blurring on the grainy areas.

Shannon, you're one fantastic photographer, but on culinary skills alone, you should have one a ribbon ;)

Very nice emotive photo. I like the burst of color from the cake, the use of the candle light is excellent, doesn't have that typical overly brown/yellow cast I seem to get when I use it. Clarity is good on the 10 which of course meets the challenge. I think just a little bit of a fill light on the girl's face to bring out more detail and perhaps around the bottom of the cake plate to help the white of the frosting pop a little more would make it more visually interesting to me. 5

best "10 year old" shot in the challenge! Should do very well. Lighting is just right!

On the first 15 pictures I see, I'm looking for a full 30 seconds and leaving a comment...I like the composition and the fade to black is excellent. I tend to like a deeper DOF and in this case I'm not sure what the slightly OOF blouse is adding. Since this is the first shot I've seen, I'll likely be back to change the vote a bit. 7 for now.

There is another one similar, but you nailed it with the lighting and the perspective. Nicely done....... Looked at again - bumping up.
