Wow, lots of comments this week! Thanks!
Figured I would respond to many of them, and explain a bit more about the shot.
First of all, this was a completely spontaneous shot. It was one of a series of 4 shots (I didnt make my kitty go thirsty for days to get her to want to drink condensation, nor did I glue her down to the desk until she did so =). I had no intentions of taking the picture for this challenge, but I liked the droplet texture and figured it would qualify. I realize it was probably stretching things a bit. I couldnt crop the newspaper out of the shot without cutting in to the glass, and that really put the focus on my kitty, and away from the droplets so that didnt seem like a good solution. It looks much better with the newspaper cloned out, but unfortunately thats not allowed. That shadow is quite a menace also.

All that said, the answers to all questions that were asked:

Journey: I hope she isnt becoming an alcoholic. I cant afford my own taste for wine, let alone the added expense hers would bring!

bunnies: About 5-10 seconds! I guess luck was on my side that day.

jochen: Yep, shes a Bengal, and it never occurred to me to take a shot of her fur either.

BeeGee: Im happy to say she didn't go without water at all ;)

Guillermo: Nope, its a Bengal Cat! //www.bengalcat.com

spiller: Thanks for the site! I submitted a variation of this shot, we'll see how it does.

GeneralE: Not yet!

amandolin: Nope, she is actually a Begal (//www.bengalcat.com). Thanks for the kind words!

Swashbuckler: The perspective on her coat is bad in the shot, she is actually more spotted than striped. Either way, her name is 'Shiraz'. I guess her name is turning out to be pretty fitting.

For anyone interested, heres a slightly different shot/perspective with the newspaper clumsily cloned out: //www.divinyard.net/gallery/album24/aai?full=1

Thanks again for all the comments!

Great capture of the tongue and the sweat from the glass. Personally I think the lighting is a bit harsh. Cute kitty - nice coloring.

Technically good, but subject somehow doesn't strike me quite right. I'd also remome the paper on right next time. 5.

Nice touch of humor for this weeks challenge. Thanks for the smile.

Rule of thirds? throw it out the window. 10

A most original entry for this challenge. Pity about the ugly black shadow in the middle. If you want to use this photo for other purposes, I suggest turning the whole background black.

I love cat shots! This is terribly nice. (neat tiger stripes, let me guess, the cat's name is tiger/tigger/or the like) Background is a little plain (-.5), hate to see you chop off the cat's behind (-.5) You had a 10 going here, but 9 will have to do. Swash (clean cat ears!!! we have mites! yuk!)

Is that an Egyptian Mau? She/he is beautiful.
07/25/2002 04:41:00 AM
I need some of that too. I love this photo.
07/25/2002 03:32:00 AM
Has kitty sampled the inside of the glass too? Nice variety of textures.

Really nice capture. Newspaper is slightly distracting - I'd have cropped it. Hotspot on the glass draws the eye away from the real action.
07/24/2002 02:25:00 PM
I think a tighter crop on just the face and glass, if possible, would have worked well too. This is hilarious. karmat
07/24/2002 01:16:00 PM
cuteness! :-)
07/24/2002 10:32:00 AM
Love cats... but not sure on the "texture" unless you are referring to the condesation of the water on the glass.
07/24/2002 10:16:00 AM
Great shot, perfect timing. Frame it more to the left and you'd have a perfect shot.

cute but it BARELY meets the challenge......The CONDENSATION has TEXTURE, crop out the cat...
07/23/2002 08:46:00 PM
Is this a miniature tiger??
07/23/2002 08:22:00 PM
LOL!!!!!! This is hilarious! You had to be very patient until the right moment. This is a beautiful, clear pic. Excellent composition.
07/23/2002 05:03:00 PM
wow! great DOF and I love your cat - a true living-room tiger. how long did the poor thing go without water? ;-) would do even better in a pet challenge with me.

Just when I thought I was a huge grump today for giving everyone low scores, along comes a winner!
07/23/2002 01:07:00 PM
This is a great photo. I think the only thing I would have done to change it is to move the newsapper that is one the right side of the table, its a little distracting.
07/23/2002 10:22:00 AM
Bengal breed? If so, why did you not post a pic of her spotted fur? Then again, I have a Bengal cat as well, and didn't think of it at all...
07/23/2002 09:34:00 AM
Beautiful kitty. You've got some good clarity in this. Move that newspaper out of the way though.
07/23/2002 09:25:00 AM
Not sure about the texture part of it, but is a cute photograph. LOL.
07/23/2002 07:56:00 AM
This is a really nice photo.good textues on the wine glass, and the cat is sooo cute hehe :)
07/23/2002 02:14:00 AM
haha.. cute!
07/22/2002 09:46:00 PM
That's a neat idea of showing the glass sweating. It does give the glass a texture.
07/22/2002 08:02:00 PM
What a cute kitty! A neat picture. Not sure if I like the newspaper, though. Maybe a book... A nice catch, though! :)
07/22/2002 05:04:00 PM
very nicely done, how long did you have to wait before this chance came along
07/22/2002 03:50:00 PM
nice shot, but the newspaper is a bit distracting.
07/22/2002 03:38:00 PM
First: great looking cat!!!!!!! MY gosh just beautiful. Second: Great catch, wonderful shot!!!!! Congrats. Kee
07/22/2002 02:21:00 PM
nice cat
07/22/2002 01:09:00 PM
great capture.
07/22/2002 12:41:00 PM
Nice clean shot with great timing to catch that tongue at full extension. Would be better without the newspaper lying there.
07/22/2002 12:32:00 PM
gorgeous animal, great photo! I would have given a 10 but I'm deducting a point for the newspaper in the shot. 9
07/22/2002 11:37:00 AM
Great picture. Love the sharpness of the cat, the icy water on the glass. Reflections in the base of the glass are superb. Somehow I can't make up my mind whether the newspaper adds or is just a sloppy distraction. Too bad not more of the bottom paw could have been shown. The black spot behind cat and glass is somewhat unfortunate but it provides nice contrast with the white cat fur. BTW, are you training your cat to become an alcoholic? :)
07/22/2002 09:38:00 AM
Lots of textures here,good one.
07/22/2002 02:01:00 AM
I like that your picture actually has a subject. I really like it. If I was going to be picky, I'd try to do something about the shadow in the back, but I'm not that picky.
