Captured this guy flying around and snapped a few shots when he landed on this bush. Cropped and tilted the pic a little, then used Levels to make the color nicer, and USM. Simple black border.

That leaf poking in on the upper-right has to go. Another instance where I disagree with the "no spot retouching" rule. Too contrasty.

Nice DOF and sharpness of the insect. Good lighting and colors.

A little over exposed. Shading the subject on a bright sunny day would help bring out the insect from the background.

Sunny, and bright--- difficult shot. You did well.

I have to admit to ignorance in terms of butterflies so I will take you by your word is the type.

In terms of composition, if I am going to moan, then I would say that the leaf towards the top right detracts slightly from the butterfly. Naturally I don't have your original image to go by, but I think I would have tried to rotate the image a little bit and re-crop so that it wasn't distracting from the butterfly. It's only a thought, but I briefly tried it in Photoshop and I have to say the butterfly stood out a little bit more, but in terms of use of the area I would have needed more image to work with to see if I could get a really good result. This is just a very minor point, and I'm sure you considered it in your original crop. I also like the fact that the butterfly is not quite in the middle of the picture.

Technically I would say that your image is either spot-on in focus, or as near as makes no difference. The depth of field also appears to be quite good, and from the crispness of the image there appears to be no camera shake to speak of.

On a final note the image appears to have very good balance, and I think that it is yet another one that should do very well.

Beautiful detail and color. Perfect DOF and use of thirds. Composition is right on the money. The only tiny issue I have is the leaf in top right draws the eye there. No biggy...awesome photo !

Attractive subject, good composition, nicelt blurred background. Only complaint is that it's blow out on the extreme highlights.

I like the blurred background...but the small leaf on the top is slightly distracting from the rest of the photo...otherwise..nicely done.
