I think that the symmetry here works brilliantly. the rope is perfectly placed; neatly coiled. This is the view that the person being transported sees as the ferryman stands behind and licks his proverbial chops.
I like the cool vast negative space of teh water being slice with the warm toned hot boat.

excellent work, as always.

I just saw this picture in my local newspaper. Thought it looked like something from here. Is it on shutterstock? I left that section of the paper on the bus. Do you want a tear sheet? Let me know & I'll go buy another paper.

I really like the simplicity of this shot. It reminds me of a famous Sam Abell photograph. Something like this will do fantastic in the zen competition.

Nice photo, I really like the subtle coloring and composition, but nothing about this image screams "lines" to me. Sure, there are lines, but they don't seem to play a significant part in the effectiveness of the photo.
