This is a shot of a Chinese Mantis that I captured in our yard. You actually can't see the prettiest part of the mantis! That would be its back.

Very nice shot - I like his stance in this picture. Praying Mantis is one of my favorite bugs (the only other being ladybugs) :-)

This would have been one of my top picks...if only that pesky leaf in the foreground on the left wasn't there! There are some things that are just really hard to control when photographing wildlife...

Good head on shot. Improved focus would add a lot to tis shot. It appears very shallow.

Cool subject. I think I'd have been tempted to lose the bottom section of the shot (from around the top of the leaf which obscures its abdomen) to concentrate on that amazing face and those forelegs.
