now that the challenge is over and I can see whose image this is, I can be sure that your choice to make the image 550 pixels tall (instead of 640) was a deliberate choice rather than the oversight of one unfamiliar with the customs of DPC. from that standpoint, I still wonder why you chose the smaller size. Was the image just too information-heavy to keep at the full 640?

Thanks all for the comments. appreciated.

I took the shot with my 5D and 70-200 f4 L.
I was looking for close-ups of the poppies but couldn't gain access to the field (hence the longer lens)

I'm not sure why I kept the 4x6 aspect, in hindsight this might have looked better in a squarer format.

I like this one alot. The red flowers just set off the whole picture great. Well done and bumping up.

this is an awesome picture - the colors are lovely and the well-defined stalks of grass are eye-catching. i think a 4x5 crop might have suited this image better - here the red flowers are a bit to small to really anchor the composition. cutting off some of the space at the top would tighten up the image nicely. also - use the full 640 pixels!

Love the simplicity of this - bumping it up on my second run through. Composition is great with the location of the poppies - maybe would like to see the red pop a bit more.

Excellent use of DOF and color to accentuate those two tiny red flowers. Well done!

I know your photo is one of the ribbons. If not, I think I will give up photography, and start selling underwear...

of course I am kidding, but this photo should be in first three ;)

may I suggest that you save your photos in the maximum 840px size, because at this size, it's really difficult to judge well... :-)

This is a great shot however and the red flowers really add spark and interest to the shot, love the dof
