 I knew I would be short of time during the day (and this was originally for the Black & White in Colour challenge), so I had to set the chess board up next to the window to be ready for sunrise. When I took a test shot whilst still dark outside, the halogen spots in our ceiling created this effect of the gold square (no credit due to me!). Later I made some small changes to the levels, contrast& brightness and then sharpened. I also removed a scratch from part of a square that I could not remove from the actual chess board.

Greetings!

Photograph: Well taken, the title is very appropriate and technically, its very well captured.

Challenge : the challenge was Gold, and I am sure not many people will find enough gold in this picture, there is are more colors in this picture which fight for attention, which I believe is the reason for a lower score.

Overall, a well taken photograph which doesn't meet the challenge very well.

you have a few competing colors here that are a bit distracting. get the window reflection out (I think it's a window reflection), and I believe you'd have a pretty strong shot.

With the pawn on the left and all the pawns in the background being on the left, the photo is not balanced. It is a bit distracting to me.
