Wow! I want to thank everyone for their comments! This is my first entry and I am very pleased to have done as well as I did. I've only had my Nikon 5700 camera for a few weeks and am still in a huge learning curve. I agree that this is a bit fuzzy, and I think I may have cropped it too much. The metering was the default auto setting. I did really like the contrast in this shot, but agree that it looks overexposed. |

If I were to shoot this subject, I would try to position the camera so it looks like we are at the wasp's level rather than above it. The highlights are a bit blown-out. |

The lighting is a little bright. I like the black and wood background. The insect could be a little sharper. |

this is a very interesting shot that doesn't quite make it for me - the light division is too sharp and costs a bit in focus as well as loss of detail |

Nearly a good shot - not quite in focus and a little overexposed on the abdome and leg. Shooting with a half-bright and half-dark background makes it difficult. Did you (could you) try centre-weighted metering? |
