My beautiful starling, The Brat. I was between a couple photos for this challenge and the composition of this I just really liked.
The others:

//www.rpi.edu/~defigh/bwcolor3.jpg
//www.rpi.edu/~defigh/bwcolor4.jpg

and for fun, The Brat getting annoyed at my incessant picture taking:

All I did was increase brightness and contrast and that got rid of most of the background. I then cloned out what ever little bits of color were left back there and did a little light burning on the feathers to add some more depth.

Maybe some will find it too colorful, I really dont care. She is a black and white bird and she cant help that she is beautifully iridescent! :)

this is funky beyond words. wait.. wait... I'm getting a message... "Nevermore!" Let us all dissolve our beaks into the funkiness. Amen! 9! (I lied... I gave this a 10)

Now that's a pretty bird. A bit too much color to really be a B/W subject, but it looks too damn cool for me to care about that. I think I would have preferred the focus to be on the eye and beak, but I still like this a lot.

Your spot of focus is chosen very interesting. I find it original photo.9

Neat shot, the head being out of focus distracts a little

a nice idea, but I would hav focussed differently. The feathers draw the eye up towards the head. I would have focussed on the head, with just sufficiently narrow depth of field to allow the foreground feathers to start to go OOF.

awesome color, I think more focus would have helped
