Greetings from the Critique Club.
Hi Marissa,
I love the composition of this shot. You must have taken so many shots to get this. In particuler I like the way the curve of the body lead the eye into the depth of the shot. to my eye this is well balanced. I personally would have like the forground to be in crisp focus. Maybe its just a matter of taste but I think this would have been more effective if the whole subject was in focus (with a longer DOF maybe) or that the foreground was in focus with the head a little soft.
So why is the score not higher (not that you've done badly)? Seems the DNMC crowd have for some reason chosen to strike at you. Personally I think it is a testament to all that is good about this shot that they can be so discriminating about the off-white shade.
I hope my comments help and Good Luck in future Challenges!
Cheers

My roommate and I actively raise cornsnakes and are belong to a forum of cornsnake owners - cornsnakes.com.
I am guessing from your description that Rosie might be a snow corn or possibly even a coral. Albino cornsnakes are actually called Amelanistic (lacking black pigment) but they are usually red/orange and white. Come visit us on the forum sometime...I am sure someone on there could probably tell you exactly what morph Rosie is! Would love to see more pics of her. |

Ivory-hued serpent. Archetypal fearful symbol. How could I NOT comment! Dramatic composition...might like it better rotated 90 degrees clockwise. Tough not to scare your subject out of range. Good job. |

I like the wandering lines, but would have liked a little more DOF so that we can see all of the texture on the snake |

Your snake actually looks tan and white. Very sharp photo though. Nice focus. Great lighting. |

Ohh...what kind of snake?? Love snakes! Great choice for this particular challenge, but maybe would have looked better if the snake was facing the camera. |

Just wish the snake were facing toward camera instead of away. I know you can never get those darn snakes to pose the way you want. |

The snake has some coloration that I hope doesn't stir up the DNMC crowd. Still a great image. |

Very good idea! But I call it unfinished picture. If you want to keep the same position of the snake, go ahead, but next time try to go to the lower angle, you will see what's gonna happen. |

The snake looks more yellow then white, but a lovely image either way. |
