Thanks everybody for your comments, I also liked the image... maybe people got tired of chess pictures too; that's why so low score :) Never mind!
In my opinion different cameras give different tones: I love how nikon produce the yellows but olympus give You also INCREDIBLES colors and very REAL: so if You have a good woodboard then You get good results :)
Basically my pp is pretty common: cropping, levels, curves, contrast (using unshrap mask) , a little warming, a touch of color balance in LAB mode...and size and sharpening, thats all.
I forgot: lenses also help :) |

This is some beautiful playing cards, I am jealous you have them. The tonal effect is also lovely, I'd be delighted to learn how you got this within the basic rules. I hope you'll show us, or at least PM me and tell me :-) I'm searching for the magic basic-legal glow effect myself :-) |

Love the way the colors and light match the antique quality of the subject. Also, not a candy or drill bit in sight. :) |

I really like the set up, but I tend to lose the cards on the right side in darkness and don't catch much detail on the pieces other then the white pieces. |

That's different...just a little dark but maybe on purpose? Not to be picky, but, it should be 'on the chessboard', not 'in the chessboard' me thinks? Still, it's well done. |

The edge of the chess board being on an angle is very distracting. I like the composition and I like how you've processed this to have that 'old' look. The jumble of pieces in the bottom left don't work so well. Might have been nicer to start with just the two cards even if you had to put a little tape on their backs to keep them there. I think shooting this from a bit lower down towards the surface of the board might have played up some of the nice perspective here of the white and brown squares.
Overall a good idea. 5. |
