This expression is so familiar - both my sons played chess for the H.S. Team (although the cup was not displayed with other championship trophies...) and I recognize the win. I like the props, too. 8

Chess really does seem to be a sport in this shot--complete with gatorade and a towel! There seems to be a bit of a colour cast in the photo and it would be nice if the image were a bit sharper, but I love the concept of this shot and the pose and expression of the "chess athlete"! Small point: there's a bit too much negative space over the player's head for my tast, but that's just me.

Fun image. The gatorade and towel are nice touches. A cheerleader with a low cut top and nice pom poms would work well in this situation. :)

However, if the king is on the black square it could move to N6 or aggressively to N4 to attack the knight, rook and pawn. With queen support and the black rook eventually taking whites rook black could easily get a draw and possibly win the game before white can advance its pawns.

If the king is on the white square then it could still move to K6 to try and escape... but then it would only be a matter of time.

Might still be early to pour gatorade over the coachs head.

Good, now go and get a shower and some oranges.

Hehehehe good job turning chess into a "real sport " ;-) Really funny idea with the sports towel and the gatorade. I would have cropped off a lot of the extraneous space at the top and maybe some of the left side? Fun though.

do people take chess that seriously lol great shot caught the action well

Crack me up! I gave this a 10 for making me laugh out loud. Who's up for a little Full Contact Chess? This reminds me of the time I spent in Kansas with my cousins. They do everything full contact, basket ball, tennis, video games, dinner... You name it, it was fair game. I don't think I ever got a fat lip at dinner, except there with my cousins and uncle! The towel and Gatorade bottle, not to mention the "in your face" pose/expression are great! Nice work!

LOL. You've tried to address the challenge of action by putting a sports drink and a guy dressed in sports gear into your shot. Too much space at the top. Colours a bit bland. Oh, the fact that the king is down means that the opponent has resigned, not checkmate.

LOL, what's really funny about this is the Gatorade, towel, and how the player looks like he's sweating! Hahahaaa, great. But the pic itself needs better lighting, etc. Creative shot. 6.

Persiflage. I commend the author of this image for submitting it, not because it's a technical powerhouse of a photo, but because it demonstrates a sharp sense of humour and a keen eye for that which makes it work.

The somewhat hapless composition and an, apparently, incidental -technique- give the impression of a snapshot taken for no other purpose as to make us laugh., at which task this capture exceeds. The range of the banter, however, is probably limited to the context of DPC.

I cannot help but laugh with it. > 6

Love it! How long did he warm up before the action/!

Ha! Very cute. Were there cheerleaders, too...? :) I might have cropped this a little differently -- there seems to be a bit too much headroom.

A bit dark and not sure about the chess set being a sport; the gatorade & man are within the challenge, but...

Love that "in your face" expression on his face!
