You shoot this right before the Fire challenge? That sucks. :P Well, if you decide to shoot something similar for the fire challenge I would suggest trying to improve the way you are lighting this. The harsh light on the right needs to be diffused so it doesn't create that hot spot. Maybe use some white sheets double folded if you are using a a make shift setup. Also, add some diffused fill light to the front of that cigarette or whatever that is. If you've seen others shoot matches like this they always light the tip so you can see the texture detail which has a very appealing quality. If you are going for something different then try just lighting the smoke and flame only and avoid any hot spots on the cigarette. That's the main issue here with this photo. That and also the noise. It doesn't bother me but I wouldn't expect others to like it so much.

love the idea, the colors, and the composition. hope you're not getting killed by the 'motion blur'.

Impressive. I'm looking forward to seeing how you did this...and how many takes it took. :D

this would be great in the fire challenge, but that doesn't help you...

ummm, it's OK. you stopped the action for sure, but I think the idea of the challenge is a bit different to this, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt 8
