I love the shot- I agree that the foreground doesn't necessarily need to be there, but I don't think it needs to be removed either.. Great B/W.

Thanks for the almost unanimous advice. I still think this is the way I want it. The light and dark zones are nicely distributed and form a pleasing composition. The soccer event on top adds extra movement in the image. This photo also reveals that my interest for graphics and the vegetal world has never been overshadowed by a passion for sports.

So, did the goalie get it or not? He looks a bit late. I'd have cropped some of the foreground, just below where the darker grass starts.

I really like your idea of taking the picture from behind the net, however I feel that the bottom half of the picture is not needed. I feel that if you cropped the picture from the shadow line just below the net, it would bring the viewers eyes to the football game. In this case because the shadow below the net is a darker contrast than the subject, the eye is drawn to the shadow.

I like this shot a lot. I'm not sure why you choose to put SO much space in the front, I think this actually could have been very effective as a wide short shot. Great action here, it's almost like a whole story book, lots of stuff happening, I almost wonder if there isn't too much. Very effective in black and white! For some reason I just really like the unique look to this shot. -8-

I like the idea of this. I would like to see this cropped higher up, eliminating two thirds of the grass - abouth where the darker grass starts. I like the photo but my eye is drawn more to the contrasts in the grass color than the net. perhaps I am the only one who feels that way though:)

This is a pretty good shot except way too much dead space in the lower half IMHO.

needs some cropping - what's that guy on the left doing?

It´s a good idea, but for me there are a lot of grass in the picture and the goal-net is too small... But just an opinion. For the rest, it´s a beatiful shot. I think it was a good choice to do it in B&W...7

a little too much foreground for my taste, but still a strong entry.

Neat image but I find that not enough was cropped off the bottom. Good action shot.

I feel that there's far too much foreground here.

I wish either that i could see the upper part of the net, or that that dark grass on the bottom was cropped off

would like to see this cropped higher, maybe about where the shadow changes the color of the grass. so that 2/3 of the frame is net, instead of 2/3 being grass. right now the eye is drawn to the strong horizontal of the shade on the grass, not to the soccer game.

Interesting shot, but I think there's way too much foreground and the B&W makes it hard to pick out the ball

To much grass on the bottom, I think it could have been cropped some more. Also I think this shot would have been better in color.

Fantastic perspective but way too much negative space. Focus through the net was difficult I am sure. You needed to trick your camera or go to manuel focus. Why black and white?

a very different framing with all the grass. I'm not entirely sure it works for me - makes me feel very removed from the action.

Great picture, very creative and imaginative. Wonderful composition. Levels of contrast and range of tones just right. Good textures. My favourite and only 10 this challenge.
