Stovetop shot with a macro lens...basic editing including burning, dodging, healing and saturation and some noise reduction. Border, resize, a little more burning and dodging and the some more noise reduction to soften the whole shot.

I wasn't going to enter this, but I liked the abstract nature of the shot...at such a slow shutter speed it was hard to get sharpness on the flame, but I actually like the softness of the flame and the little highlight on the burner.

Greets from the Critique Club

First off, congrats on the top 10 finish with this shot. Not sure I can add a whole lot to what has already been said, but I'll try.

This is a beautiful abstract macro and the softness of the flames does help against the hard cold black of the burner. However, the focus point seems to be on the edge of the burner, where you can easily make out the scuff marks on the black edge of the burner.

The colors of this are magnificent, the orange, blue and black complement each other magnificently.

The crop and angle are superb. It shows just enough to make this very interesting. I think if you would have had more of the burner, the photo would have been very boring.

Great job on the top 10 again.

i didn't enter in time, but funnily enough this is almost exactly what one of my outtakes looked like. Shallow DOF, cool colors. Glad to see top 10

While I am not normally drawn to shots of burners - this one is very nice. The crop and DOF is perfect. The shapes from the flame are smooth. One of my favorites of the challenge and I will bump up one for now. Good luck!

Back again - still lovin this one. Bumping to a 9. Last minute bump to 10.

This picture is ok, but I feel it lacks a focus point... I find it difficult to follow the fire "curves". Nice idea though, may work really well with a different angle/perspective.

surprisingly few burners in this challenge, don't you think? i think this is a lovely shot of one; the flames are so well captured that they look tangibly touchable. i also like the detail and the texture of the black metal element. it's a very lovely macro - 8.
