As you say, it's a complicated task, and a bit of a shame that the birds won't let you get in for a better angle, because what you do see there is really good texture and colour wise, just missing the tip of the head. I quite like it. |

beautiful shot, great background tones..it is a shame that you didn't catch it on a different angle, but I think it is great you caught it at all... |

Thankyou all for your comments.
With this little fella i spent two days trying to get this. He was crafty as the feeder was on the outter porch about 14ft off the ground.
The dark green you see behind were actually green trees but every time i tried to get a focus on the bird it kept focusing on the trees so didnt get any joy away from the feeder.
But when they land at the feeder they will land on the dead opposite side to where you are standing. As soon as the cam is lifted he was off. This shot i was fortunate for him to come to the feeder before my arm started to ache lol. But i never had a tripod so couldnt even set it up and get out of the way.
Next year though on vacation im going to get a cracker :) |

This is something I have wanted to try to shoot for ages. It is a pity that part of the bird's head is obscured. A better angle, side on more or from a higher angle so that the feeder isnt so dominant and obscuring the bird, would have improved it a lot, the colors are nice too. Keep trying to get these guys you will get the shot when you least expect it. |

Well. .. away from the feeder or no. . .this is an awesome shot!!! I am so in awe of people who can get good hummingbird shots. I can't even get my camera stopped on one long enough to shoot. This is great. So much detail in the wings and head. I just love it!!!

I would imagine it'd be hard to get a shot of a hummingbird. I like this one because the background is so rich and it really compliments the bird's colors. Of course the feeder obscures part of the subject but instead of being all bad, I think the feeder really adds something to the photo and makes it unique. |
