Wow…thanks for all the great comments. I was hoping for a mid-5 score, I sure wasn’t expecting a 6.

I have a new respect for elementary school teachers! I constantly had to change things up to keep everyone’s attention. I had to move people around and assign different “roles” in order to keep some of the boys focused.

This is the first challenge where I really tried to engage the viewer in the image. The rope was just the premise, while you looked around the frame, from face to face at the different expressions. And the boy pointing at the rope and looking out of frame sells the trick and the illusion that there are others in attendance. Originally I wanted a young girl for that part, but his light colored clothing draws the attention in a black & white image, so it was inevitable that he take on that role.

I think this is completely terrific! Majorly amusing. The way the poiting kid's face is turned from the rope even as he points to it is fantastic. Good luck!

Cool idea for this challnge, and B&W sure works here for me. Maybe a closer crop would have a greater impact. Good job!!!

Funny shot. i like how the boy and girl standing on either side of the rope have this look of disbelief or boredom ("So its a flying rope - big deal")where everyone else is surprised or astonished. Good work. Bumping up.

Gave a high score because of the expressions on the models. Some are awestruck, some are sceptic, and the central model (the girl standing in the center) seems to be saying:"So...should I be impressed?"
If this is a candid, you were very lucky. If this is setup, you're a great director! Good job!

Either a fabulous candid, or those kids are great actors! I love how some are trying not to be impressed, while others are openly so. Great contrast too.

Ha! I thought about trying this for the rope challenge.

Your actors did a nice job selling it with their expressions, and I love the kid pointing it out to someone off-camera (an adult, maybe?). 6.

Nicely posed. Expressions and body language seems real. The B&W conversion is nice. The white T-shirt is just a bit too bright. 8

that's fantastic LOL! I love the expressions and the idea...my only negative is the guy on the left...if he wasn't in the shot, this would have been perfect...also, while I am at it, perhaps if you dipped down a little to get to eye level with those standing it would have had more impact...it just looks like you were taller than everyone in the shot...I really like the look of the guy in the white t-shirt, his expression is great 8
