shadows are substanceless
one can argue if they are subjectless in this scene
only exuse i have is all the different stones in the image are as important as the the shadows so that makes it hard definable what makes the image working
that is IF its working

Hi from the Critique Club!

Very pleasant image you have here!

I love the tones and exposure. The repeating patterns go really great together in this image.

The composition is great!

I really like this image.

But I think for some of the voters, the "what the heck is this" factor may have played a role in the below/average voting. Also, the shadow is pretty strong in the frame so some voters may have seen that as "the subject" and stabbed a DNMC right on the pic.

That's just my two cents! Happy shooting in the future.

:)

Oh this light...yes, this beautiful light...what tree wouldn't throw up it's arms in sheer delight and dance across the cobblestone in this absolutely perfect light.

To me, the photo clearly has a subject - the shadow. But, I thought it was a person's shadow at first. Now I see it is from a tree...I like it.

I like the detail in the floor and wall. Interesting shadow.

that is such a fantastic shadow. I would even venture so far to say that it demands to be the subject of this complex composition, and therefore technically you are dnmc. So here's my 10 for a dnmc!

Beautiful photo; I love the repeated branching - both of the tree and of the kerb-stones. The sense that the shadow is of a person, only refuted by the inclusion of the very edge of the tree makes that parallel just enough of a compositional surprise. Marvellous.
