Had just a few minutes after getting off the plane, to take a series of 20 shots, before we had to leave. This was the first of them, and I picked it mainly because of the seaplane to the left in the picture. I didn't see that seaplane until I had downloaded the pictures to my laptop, and my immediate thought was the title of the picture.

Post challenge:

Thank you for all the comments. For those who thought "not a real silhouette" ...

Description
Silhouettes are created by backlit subjects, which causes them to appear solid and without much, if any detail. Submit your best silhouette taken this week!

It doesn't say silouettes must be completely dark. I liked it this way, I could have put more shadows in it if I had wanted, but to me, the reflection of the sky in the fuselage skin of the 747 adds to the image.

Darker silhouette - see here:

I think the idea here is to pleeeez the masses.

Thank you for the nice comment and understanding, I am sure you miss it yourself, although you must be happy back home with your ever expanding family! Did you see the latest newsletter?

Did you see that I only discovered the float plane when processing the pictures? This shot was the only on of the shots with other planes in it ...

Hey, this is great! I'm surprised and confused that people didn't see it as a silhouette. I didn't vote on or view this challenge, but I sure feel fortunate that I got to see your entry. Well seen and captured!

Hey, Bucket, thank you so much for your support. I like it myself, but it seems many voted it down for not being a "real" silhouette to them ...

Love the composition. If only the sky wasn't reflecting off goliath, it would be perfect !

Great shot and a good use of the title. Did you think about just shooting the large jet, it seems a strong enough composition on it's own.
