 Now I know this shot is not gonna do great - but hopefully just enough better than my wifes pic. ;)

We took a trip down to Hocking Hills which is a State park in Ohio. We stopped by the road to take some pics of two baby deer but by the time we got situated they were gone. Fortunatley we parked by this ridge. This picture does not give a good representation of size. ALl I can say is that those trees are not small. This place was huge and gorgeous. We didnt pull out the tripod so most of the shots were pretty blurry - this one being no exception. Next time we go back we pull out the tripod and plunger and we leave the kids home. Rowan threw a tantrum after Aimees shoot of the caves. Joy!

Post processing - levels, alot of dodging and burning, saturation, layer masked the upper center area and did separate adjustments along the same lines. USM a cuople of times, crop, cloned out Rowans head (it was very tiny in this shot), border, resize for web.

I really like this one. And I'd have to say that a 6.3 is better than "not great". Post processing is excellent - I like the way you really brought out the light.

I think it's a very pretty shot! I gave this a 7 in voting. I'm not quite sure it met the challenge, but it did a hell of a lot better than mine did, LOL. This was a hard challenge to vote on and that score was basically because the picture was so pretty. Congrats on the top 20!

All I gotta say is...you are setting pretty high standards if this is your idea of not doing great. Congrats on another fine image (...shot under difficult circumstances, right Rowan?) My children are adults now, but I've been there.

Critique Club Review:

This is a very good photo and hard to critique. If only you would make mistakes. ;-)

This would be great large picture, wonderful mural. If anything, it might be a bit busy for the small format allowed for the challenges. Great saturation, focus, depth of field, contrast, and exposure. About the only other possible improvement that comes to mind, and I'm a bit iffy about this, would be to darken the rocks on the left side of the picture to create more of a frame, than to compete. But... then again this is a no subject challenge, and if you frame the subject, there you go. You wind up with a subject in a no subject challenge.

Personally, I'd like to have a 16x20 of this hanging on my wall.
