I like the colors in the blob. I agree with others who suggested cropping down to include only that.

This suffers from what I see a fair amount in abstracts. It wants to be an abstract, but it still provides context of "what it is". In trying to provide both it suffers. I would either crop much closer to the vortex or crop more traditionally (not so centered) and make it less abstract. The color is pleasing, although I'm not sure if the selective desat works.

In my expert critique (laughable) I'm debating if you actually have a subject here. It seems to me that the round blue ball of water might be a subject. Perhaps a tighter crop would change my mind.

Technically, this is a damn good image and shows improvement on your part. Especially with the close-ups.

How did you protect your camera from water? Thanks.

Greetings from the Critique Club.

At first glance I thought, "What the heck is that?". Then I took a longer look at it and figured it out. I think a lot of people voted here without giving it a good look as the score deserved to be a bit higher.

This was a creative idea indeed. I'm fond of the crop you have showing me the jet on the left. I do think the shallow depth of field hurt you here. If you'd have had plenty of light to shoot this with a small aperture to get the entire image in focus it would've been an extremely powerful shot.

Overall a good effort and idea.

Cheers - Phil

I like your solution to the "problem" of no subject: a wild, amorphous and constantly-changing subject. 8

This is either too abstract (for me), or it is wht it says it is. That sort of takes it one side or the other of the goal. Challenge is a tough call. 5

Fascinating capture and I like the color palette but I wish the top of the water jet wasn't cropped off.

Lovely abstract (of water, I presume). Does that count as a subject, though?

Well it meets the challenge... but not very appealing

looks like the blob from the movie...interesting shot...perhaps it is a subject in itself and may not be quite what this challenge was looking for
