Greetings from the Critique Club.
Hi Catherine,
It's a long time since I watched The Bridges of Madison County. If my memory stirs correctly I was too young at the time to properly appreciate it.
There is nothing technically wrong with your shot so I think it would be useful to focus on what is holding it back. There are two major areas that might help: composition and light quality. Regarding composition - the lines of the main subject to not draw my attention in nor hold my eye, instead the stretch horizintal across image. Regarding the light quality - I think this was taken sometime in the middle of the day as the light seems flat and as a result the image lacks depth. I recommend the following articles on the Ron Bigelow website for each of these issues:
//ronbigelow.com/articles/adv_comp/adv_comp.htm
//ronbigelow.com/articles/magic/magic.htm
I hope my comments help and Good Luck in future Challenges!
Cheers

I really like the composition here. The lines created by the railing work really well. The color does seem a bit flat though. |

I think this image really has a lot of potential and could be improved by cropping a little of the foreground and the left of the image and giving it some contrast. Nice shot |

Watch the loose leaves on the top left.. the colours could be improved to give it a richer feel. 5 for me.. :) |

Wish the colors were more crisp - it all seems a little flat. Nice photo overall. |

I like the composition on this. Also, I think the red, green and blue sets up a pleasantly colored picture. However, the colors are falling a bit short to me. Maybe a every so slight shift in saturation, especially on the red, would help a bit--just to give it an extra punch. Also, the white on the bridge railing looks a touch overexposed, adn this detracts from the overall effect as well. |

Nice composition, for me the colours seem a little washed out but I do like how you have got the sun shining on the bridge :o) |

This is madison isnt it?
Wonderful....though I do think it could have been finished better.
Maybe you've kept it this way to emulate the original shot.
Good pick. |

To me, the contrast on this seems to be too bright. And the fact the the bridge starts righ in the middle of the left side just seems a little off. Perhaps if it were taken from another angle so that your eye is led to the covered bridge from the lower left corner of the photo.... |

I immediately connected to the movie with this image, which is good. ;^) I wish you had picked a different time of day where the lighting and sky could have provided a bit more drama. It's a bit flat currently. Nice concept! Good luck in the challenge. |

Not having seen the film, I had to check it out on the Internet, couldn't actually find any film images, but plenty of this sort of bridge came up, so that's good enough. A fine image, but I think i was looking for something more exciting and punchy out of this challenge. |
