This is a image of Central City Colorado, in it\\\'s heyday it was a big mining town then when the minig ran out it almost became a ghost town. The town voted in gambling to revive it but is committed to keeping the appearance and charm that it originally had and as you can see they have been pretty sucessful. Black Hawk the town directly below Central City had easier access and pretty much let the casinos build whatever they wanted to and has developed into a mini Vegas which has completly changed it.

DJ, yes I agreed with the score and the comments especially the fact that it lacks a subject, my son said it needed a drunk on the corner he said DPC voters like that sort of thing...lol My wife just liked the way you tend to look down the street then end up looking all the way up on the hill. She said I needed to leave it in and she would take the responsibility for the score!

PapaBob, I actually rated this as a 7. I agree with the comments you received and I don't totally disagree with the final score. However, when I first viewed it I found something captivating about it and I remember studying it for some time. Keep up the nice work.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I knew this was not going to be a great scoring image but my wife really liked it and talked me into entering it. My son had the same comments that many others made that it lacked something to focus on.

Thanks again!

Nice image, but a bit busy in the foreground. Reminds me of the town my wifes parents came from. Is this in New Jersey?

Would have been interesting to see what is written on the building at the left.

A nice clean shot of Rural America.
Reminds me of some of the towns in Pennsylvania.

I wouldn't park under that sagging building about halfway back! Is there ever a time when there's no cars parked there?

Pretty buildings. The bad news is that my eye is drawn the the do not enter signs, and then, they go right down the street they're not supposed to enter and they find.... nothing to look at :( Also, I am interested in the black sign to the left and am disappointed that I can't read it. I think this has potential, but I want to turn the photographer more towards that row of pretty buildings, perhaps with a fisheye or very wide angle lens if possible, and get the signs out of there. Or, make them more prominent if that's the message you want to convey. I wish I knew what the heritage was. The rainy-rich colors are pleasing, and if you fixed a white sky, you did a good job. Good luck to you.

nice photo, nice colours but I feel there is something missing, maybe to much not strongly focused which leaves you not sure where to look, good luck anyway
