Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Image without Subject (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro
Location: My monitor
Date: Aug 27, 2006
Aperture: f/2.8
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1/128
Date Uploaded: Aug 27, 2006

With no "discernable image on screen" (just DPC gray), I took an extreme macro of my monitor. Then used a 100% crop of the image. PP steps:

1) Converted from raw with high contrast and a large amount of noise suppression
2) Brought into PhotoShop where I used a Brightness / Contrast layer set to -33 / +87.
3) Added a border (no resize, since it's already at 640px) and saved for web.

Great image, but more cartoon than photograph...at least for the voters who have graded my photos. I'm guessing low score, if concensus leans heavily on photo-realism, but the bright colors could give it a strong bump back up because the concensus always seems to lean towards "O, Look at the pretty colors!" Much success to you anyway! :)

I'm afraid this just looks more like a computer graphic from about 1985 than a photo. If that's what you wanted, then fine, but it's just not too interesting.
