Wow, Van - that must have been some storm! I love your sky shots, you have a way with the sky and especially with these mammatus clouds. The duo tone you chose for this really enhances the mood for the picture - very melodramatic. I can't wait to see your house someday - Jack and I need to get to Pueblo to visit you and Kristyn! Big old houses fascinate me - especially the ones that look haunted!
A few weeks ago when Jack and I were out walking we finally saw some of these mammatus clouds in the valley - they weren't as dramatic as the ones you get in Pueblo but it really surprised us to see them. We've never, ever seen them here before. It was a time when we were having some severe storms. |

This is only the second time in my life I headed for the basement from a storm. We lost power for two days and a large tree fell into our driveway with the strong wind. But the mammatus clouds are so wonderful after the storm. Thanks for the comments. Van
P.S. I was trying for another shot like the one I entered before, but the clouds were to the east this time and sunset was an hour later.

Popcorn clouds! I'm not sure what would have been a better subject than the building. With clouds like those you definately want those to be a large part of the photo, but the building doesn't have a whole lot of detail. As for the comment below about the "green not working".. apparently that person hasn't seen those clouds in person. That's probably darn near the actual sky color, heh. I used to live in Indiana and when the windows got dark most people were praying the sky wouldn't turn green. I on the other hand was running for my camera and heading outside. Where there's green skies... there'sah big stormah comin! =) |

The silhouette is just so-so but that is a great sky. |

I love how clouds look when full of torrential wind. 7. |

I don't think the green hue works for me. A desat would make the image more moody. Those clouds sure are freaky though. |

Hey, those are mammatus clouds! They indicate hail is likely to fall. Where exactly is your spooky old house that you'd have weather like that this time of year? Oh yeah, not everybody lives in a foresaken oven like it do! Cool photo! |

Too much of space in my opinion...but the light effects appeal to me. |

Why the sky is green baffles me. Further, the silhouette is almost entirely out of the shot. A cool sky shot, but very little silhouette is involved. Almost too much "Negative Space" you could say. |
