Challenge: Scene It! (Basic Editing III)
Collection: Stories
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Tamron AF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD for Canon
Location: Wild West City, NJ
Date: Aug 28, 2006
Aperture: 7.1
ISO: 200
Shutter: 250
Galleries: Vintage, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Aug 29, 2006

I used channel mixer, mostly on the red channel, to convert to black and white. I used curves and black/white for a harsher silent movie look. Then I converted to duotone for a sepia look, but tried to degrade the image even further. Then I resized and used USM to degrade the image further still. So much work to bring my score down, but I wanted to obscure all those trees in the background. Trees in a western?

post-challenge: I confess, I've never seen this movie. I just looked for movie titles that had "whip" in them. This was the only good title. I lucked out in that it is such an obscure movie that you can't even find stills of it online.

Great Job. Looks very authentic. Nice attention to detail. Comp is nice and tones make it look like its from that era.

Nice editing, I like the stance of the man and the 'action' you have captured, would like to have seen a little more light on his face though

I like the duotone treatment here. It makes this look really "old timey".
