 Although it looks like a thistle it is more closely related to the Globe artichoke. It was six feet high and is called a cardoon.

Very vivid and alive capture. Just not quite sharp enough. I would like to see more distinction between the flower and th background.

Nice detail! I would have cloned out the stray leaves coming off the stalk at the bottom.

great clatiry. id prefer the background to be less focused than it is to get rid of thsoe odd lines that compete with the flower. 6

Nice shot here. Great clarity and detail. Good stimulating composition. Good dof. Only minor suggestion I can make (and it is minor), is the possibility of going with a little bit different time of day, getting a more 'raking' light, and really emphasizing the wonderful texture present, and make it really 'pop'.
