Wow! I am completely blown away by the faithfulness and doggedness of your artistic vision. And by the remarkable images you produce. I agree with Bucket that this is one of the more memorable shots in the whole DPC portfolio. I am saddened by the fact that voters here are so completely oblivious to the subtle charms of your work; but I feel fortunate to be able to view it here.

I don't know whether you were robbed or not...but I know this..if the voters had to walk through a gallery filled with the shots from the challenge they would find themselves bored by technically perfect renditions of the same sorts of things again and again..then they would come into a room with only one light, and it would be focussed on this shot..and many would stop and say...oh I didn't really see this one...and then they might start talking, thinking, and be surprised by how much they missed...

I have to agree with Redmoon. I gave this shot a 9, and I'm FLOORED that it didn't do WAY better. You WERE robbed! I love it.

565th is frankly shocking and not particularly fathomable. the various elements of this shot work exceptionally well to create a surreal, bonkers highly charged image. there should be more people like you who totally goes against conformity to create images of originality, that are provoking and interesting and expertly done. i love this.

you was robbed!

Cute image however the skin is very plastic looking -- a little too much noise reduction maybe.

to tell you the truth... that is kinda creepy...

WAY over processed! From your title I'm guessing that is what you wanted but it had the potential for a great candid portrait without the plastic look.

wow...that is one freaky animated effect...almost more doll than person..very cool shot...

What a wonderful doll! Is this available at stores only in your area? It looks so real, my daughter would love one. I like the lighting you've used in this, nice contrast and shadows. The dolls hand looks overexposed perhaps a little. Best of luck to you in the challenge.

I like the high contrast, and the composition--wishing there was a wee bit more detail in her fingers so they'd look less alien. Nice rule of thirds!

I cant say that this portrait is very flattering... It's almost evil looking.

creepy ... she doesn't look real

Very artsy and unique. Since the fingers seem to be the brightest part my eyes tend to be drawn there, which I think is not what you want. Maybe tone down the highlights there (curves or burn tool) so the focal point is shifted more on the face.

Wow, that is super-duper screwed-up. I love your processing. Wow. I am scared.

I think the basic composition and story here is well done.
The post-processing made this far too soft/lacking details & textures in my opinion.

Something about this photo just doesn't look right.

This is a very surreal shot. The childs hand looks lit from within, like the scene from ET when he touches fingers with Ellliot. Along with the great expression on the childs face, gives this image a wonderfully cute and impish appeal. Very well done

very interestign effect. dreamlike. her eyes look crazy, id like to see more detail in the dark background area though.

Unusual study photo, but has created a mood & feeling...

Composition: 7 - The composition works very well. The only thing I'd change is to crop a little bit tighter on the right, maybe half way across the ear.
Technical: 5 - The high contrast works really well here to evoke a mood, but I feel too much neatimage or something has been applied, erradicating lots of the detail in the textures.
Creativity: 6 - A unique style child photo.
Appeal: 5 - Its definately attention grabbing, but its also quite creepy in a strange way, I'm not quite sure how to describe it.

Overall Calculated Average Score: 5

This reminds me of the chuckie doll. Not sure if you use neat image, but if so, it may be too much.

I don't know what happened, but it almost looks like she's painted with 3D software.... did you use neat image.. too much?

something 'unreal' about this image

very surreal looking.
I can't tell if it's a child or a doll?
Maybe that was your intent.

my honest opinion: this has been so processed it looks hideous! I am really sorry to say that. when I saw the shot I thought, 'oh, that's a shot of a plastic doll' then on closer inspection, I realised it was a child...the use of Neat Image (?) has really destroyed this...I wish I could be positive, but I can't see any redeeming feature...

Way too much neat image. It's making her look like plastic. Shame, cause the idea is adorable. ;~(

really cute, but oddly darkly ominous too. it feels very modernist as well, in addition to being creative, bit mad and thoroughly likeable. everything works; the high contrast, the whitening of the whites of the eyes, the big hit of noise reduction. i also like the close crop, the nice background, and even the border. it's all really effective and goes together to create a really diverse, interesting image. 10.

This is a great capture, she doesn't look real, almost looks like a doll. Maybe a little too much NI used? not sure

confusing...if this IS a doll, then it is an interesting shot...but I have a suspicion it is NI gone mad!!
I'll be interested to see the result
