On scouring the thumbnails after the challenge...this shot caught my eye immediately.
I really like the composition and the way you`ve managed to keep the image within the bounds of the challenge despite having a grassy foreground and a large area of sky.
Really nice work. |

Critique Club Review:
Good take on the challenge.
I like the lighting, color, contrast, hue, brightness, and saturation.
I also like the way you kept the grass a light green so that it didn't compete witht the rest of the image.
Very good focus and depth of field.
The differing angles of the beach huts is a bit distracting. I imagine that they probably don't want you relocating their beach huts though...
I would have liked to have seen a little more ocean. In the space between the huts. But again, moving huts.... ;-)
The sky color is good, but a little more detail would have been interestng. It's much better than the featurless skys too often seen in photos, but it teases me for a bit more.
Ovreall a very good photo, one I could see hanging on my wall. Congratulations on your top 20 finish. |

| it's funny, but the title very much invokes such a hippie, time specific feeling. i know it was the year of punk, but still... i did think of beach huts as a possible subject, but couldn't really find any that would fit in sense of colour or be photognic enough. this does the first and is the second. i like the contrast between the blue and yellow and yellow and blue groups of huts a lot, though it does have the affect of unbalancing the composition a bit (to me it feels more natural cropping everything left of the space just left of centre). the skies are effective, as is the lack of people. really like this image very much. 8. |

| This works extremely well as an example of pastels in a natural setting. The colour offset against the sky is perfect. |

| This is a nice idea, and the huts meet the challenge. The colours are pretty good too. The downside is that hut 79's paint job is a bit of a mess. |
