I think a different colored background would have done better with the brush bristles being black and all, but a dark background just... Fits it. I don't know. Perhaps it was inevitible. It's a /very/ nice picture. Very nice.

Critique Club Review:

Color, saturation, hue, lighting, are all excellent.

Focus is lazer sharp. Depth of field is a little shallow as shown by the blur on the end of the drop.

The picture is a little under exposed for my taste. It makes the pastels a little dark. I would have liked to have seen details on the brush bristles all the way down. They appear to dissapear into the black background a little above the bristles.

Very nice composition, and staging. I really enjoyed this picture.

To me, this is a dark image of pastel paint. Hard to know how to vote. It's exquisitely done and the lighting and focus are spot on. Hmmmmmm

The complimentary colour in the handle is rather nice. Good work.

I think the 'drip' could be a tad sharper...not to worry...thanks for not doing a flower! 10

would help to make the dry bristles a little bit brighter, to stand out just a touch more. But still a good pic

lovely picture. the new paint and old paint are pastels but the darkness of the rest of the picture dominates. Because of that, I do not consider this as pastel.

I like this idea, the drip is nice but I'm not sure about the lighting. It's kind of harsh on the right side.
