After driving along a coastal road, hoping that a minute patch of blue sky would do me a favour, this pool of sunlight satisfyingly struck the famous Monastery in late afternoon. An otherwise cloudy day, I was delighted when the sun broke the continuum for a tantalisingly short spell, pulling the remote landmark away from its muted surroundings.

As ever, the event seemed more dramatic in person than in camera, so my edits reflect my perception of the moment:
> RAW image converted with vignette, strong shadows, high contrast and altered hues
> Levels
> Noise reduction
> Convert to Lab colour and sharpen lightness channel

I saw a picture of this earlier today showing the rising tide that I figured would be a good fit for the challenge. Here Le Mont St. Michel takes up so little of the frame and there isn't much else to keep you looking at the photo. 6

Very cool. Perfect use of the thirds and the negative space. It's too bad Le Mont isn't a little brighter. Maybe you could dodge it a bit for the print!

This is a very nice shot. It would really be cool if it was lit up somewhat. 7

Nice example of the rule. The object itself is a bit small though.
