Levels, Curves, selected and adjusted blue. Inverse and burned some tree to make the dark bark stand out. Noise Ninja, Smart Sharpen. I did a tiny crop to get rid of a hot spot.

I took about 100 shots of this tree & its surroundings. This was (naturally) one of the first.

After competition comments: This was taken at a wonderful collection of gardens in Sonoma, California that I visit quite frequently. It's about 35-40 miles from San Francisco. The artist who created the garden in which this composition was taken is Topher Delaney. If you're interested, you can access her entire sculpture/garden by using this:

Once again, I'm in the reject column of the Challenge photography here at DPC. But once again, I've decided to follow my own instincts and likes.

This pattern may continue.

Very unappealing lighting. Your idea here isn't a bad one, but the fact that the tree doesn't follow the same angle as the blue and black stripes sort of makes it all fall apart.

the background colors dominate the picture. not really an interesting tree to look at.

The background is a bit rough on my eyes...not sure what I'd replace it with.

cool tree and unique idea but i think that it doesn't quite have enough impact (i'm guessing that's what you were going for?). definite points, though, for creativity:)

I don't know how you made the sharply defined blue lines, but it's cool.

Birch trees are, IMO, some of the most beautiful. Yours is no exception. 7.

Interesting composition. I don't love the lighting though. It's a bit harsh.
