Critique Club Review:

You've already heard about the overwhelming white space, the table and the tilt.

Color, particularly the green of the tree, looks a little washed out. Perhaps it's an effect of the white, which against the table makes the picture look harsh and cold.

A more dramatic lighting angle would help. Here it makes the tree look flat.

I keep thinking, if you took the tree outside, and used it to frame a sunset or sunrise, that might bring a lot to the picture. As is, the tree has a very interesting shape that brings a lot of ideas to mind.

this is a fabulous try at a zen-like image - but it needs a different colored table, angle camera so that try is straight, and the spot on the wall removed...(nice bonsai thought)

Overwhelming amount of white background does nothing to enhance this photo, it just minimizes your subject for no good reason. Subject itself is off kilter. Might also work better cropped much tighter so the tree fills the frame and cropped so that the tree's pot is not visible (or much less prominent). Good luck.

OK looking bonsai, very dull table and background. I see two spots of sensor dust, one on each side of the tree. 4

A tree in a tray. ;>þ
I think the bottom cropping is a bit odd, and I really want to straighten the line to make it horizontal, but then it would put the tree off kilter...

Nice idea and, though not an age-old pure bonsai specimen, a good shaped "tree." I think that ou could have positioned the tree out of its underlying tray in a position with a slightly better, more lush and gently lit background. Also remove that out of place grey pebble because, nice as it is and single as it is, it is unnatural for the art of bonsai. My 0.02c which is worth nothing really. ;-)

Very good idea and concept. You will probably get comments about rotating it a bit to level it.

The crop (or lack of) & white background dilute the beauty of the Bonsai
