This is pretty darn cool. I suspect for the challenge (in which I neither entered or voted) some may not have seen a "tree" but if you ask me, the roots are kind of a giveaway. I love the color - nearly "acid processed" - and I like the light/shadow play a lot. I don't at all mind the small sections that are "blown" - I don't mind "blown" and in fact often think it adds to the shot. Definitely NOT below a 5 in my book - in fact, should have been upper 5's at a minimum. Nice creative and different take on the challenge! |

Nice twist on the challenge. Good to see something other than those stupid tree silhouettes against sunset skies that were way overdone inthis challenge ;) This shot didnt grab me right away. The abstract nature was good to separate yours from the other shots but the pic seems jumbled (not that you had any control over the tree). Interesting colors and textures but it just seems to be lacking something that I cant quite put my finger on. |

This came out almost as an abstract. Given the context of the challenge theme it's identifiable. It is hard to grasp the context in which the image was taken, i.e. - how big is it? Not that it really matters that much but I get the impression from reading the 'Photographer's Comments' that you were amazed at it's size. If that "hugeness" could be passed on to the viewer...
Regarding the post-processing, the highlights (on this monitor - which isn't good) seem to be blown-out and the details of the tree/roots are a little muted and soft. I do like the high contrast approach you took overall.
Sounds like a neat place to visit sometime. ;^) |

This is an interesting abstract, kind of spooky! I just find the postprocessing to be a little too sharp and harsh. The roots are such soft lines I would have like to see that forwarded. |

maybe i'm just not as creative as you are but i don't know what part of the tree i'm looking at here. however, it does stand out against the rest of the entries. :) |

Your photo makes me tilt my head to find out more. I think it is of roots? I like the general colouring - like a patina. |

the colors give it the feel I think you are looking for. that works. so do the lines of the roots. it's stretching the challenge a little for me, but the balance of cool artistic photo deserves: 6 |
