This is my sister-in-law Kelly, and her daughter Chaela. They are in town for an extended time because her husband is currently deployed in the US Navy. She wanted me to take some pictures of their daughter, with one of the roses he sent Kelly for her birthday, to send to him. This shot was totally candid and probably the best of the bunch.

This is delightful - the interaction between mother and daughter, and daughter and camera really draws the viewer in.

Oh what a delightful candid portrait!! I love when you can capture moments like this. It is rare to have such radiance stopped forever when you click at just the right time! Congratulations!

Well family shots are so hard to critique cause the technicals really don't matter. After reading you comments it makes it even harder just becasue I know this guy just wants photos. He could care less about the background. For suggestions I might would make a tighter crop on just the faces to really capture that natural expression of happiness you have there. Very nice image either way.

This is not bad, the lighting is good as is the DOF. The focus on the two faces is just a tad soft but again, not real bad. I will agree with the previous commenter's on the cropping and cloning.

A very cute capture :)
I agree with Deb about cropping the top off. Just above the fence line. You can also clone out or crop out the little green branch near the bottom right corner. In any case, I'm sure this photo will melt Dad's heart.

I'm sure he'd love this shot! It's warm, real, and they're both beautiful. I especially like the way the sun has lit Kelly's hair - perfect light that time of day. You could almost crop down to the top of their heads, leaving room for framing, to cut out a bit of the background. Very lovely shot!
