day 11 of 30 day self portrait. I'll preface by saying I havent been a cutter in almost 7 years but it did take up quite a bit of my life at one point. all the body image talk recently made me decide to do this. the words on here are all words i have carved into myself on several occasions. I can still read the word nothing, the scar is pretty clear the others are just jagged lines along my stomach now but the memories remain of a time where I had just too much pain to keep inside. I never drank, or did drugs like other teens. this was my vice.

Thank God you got through this! We all bear scars of our youthful vices of one sort or another and have dealt with our pains in different ways - not all of us come through it ok. I'm glad you're here.

I've known (and know) some girls who were/are cutters, people seem to thing that this is so much more out of the norm than it is. Very sad, and reminds me of the things that used to be written in my mind, if not on my skin. Thanks for sharing, you're braver than I.

Excellent, Crystal. Really powerful and well done. This could be used as a public service announcement kinda thing. And I'm really glad you don't do this anymore. Someone's gotta tease Mike now and then. :-)

But, you're one of my favorites. What would I do without you here?
