Thought I'd go for a more classic style of shot and I really like how this turned out. Also, this is my first sp with my hair cut (finally) :)

The lighting was from my 500w work light diffused by a thin blue tarp and a white bed sheet, plus a bit of back lighting from a small window behind me.

ETA: Tweaked my entry with a little added brightness because some of the comments I received said that the photo was underexposed. Hope this is better.

I like it. not sure if the grainy look is intentional but I like it as it sets a nice mood for the shot.

Very impressive. I love the feeling here. You're looking so introspective and relaxed. The backlighting is just enough to separate (sp) you from the background. Works very well.

Nice haircut. Short, clean and looks pretty even. Can't see tha back, but I assume it's not a mullet. ;-P

...oh-- great portrait also! Lighting is perfect.

Very nice classic shot! I love the pose - you look very comfortable and even a wee bit contemplative. I do like the low key but then I'm kinda fond of that sort of thing. If you play with it a bit (levels, contrast) you can keep the low key but bring a wee bit more light.

Edit - the reworked version you did is quite nice - you kept the low key but brought out just a bit more detail.

I like this one, nice rim-light on the hair, very subtle and nicely low key (in both definitions of the phrase)

Indeed a very nice classic shot, excellent catchlights, really great pose. I think it's a tad underexposed, but otherwise really great. Hm, just read the comments, so yeah, what they already said. :)

Yeah! I agree with Crystal on this one. Just need to play with the lighting a tad. You've done well with the rest of the image. Well done!

nice shot. definately looking good with the new haircut. it suits you. I think you maybe cut too much light out with the tarp AND the sheet. The lighting could stand to be a bit more dramatic. but overall a very nice shot. great composition.
