 I found the hole in my pants really distracting but instead of a tighter crop I decided to accentuate with the title, only time will tell if it was a good decision. I love how the black and white came out on this one. This is actually part of the Self Portrait challenge, Day 14. I got this idea from an ad I saw in a magazine of a real beautiful piano shot where everything was black and white and had great lighting, this isn't exactly that shot since it is a different angle, wood piano and has a person in it, inspiration none the less.
I used lights from the room and a 500 watt worklight on a ladder aimed at the piano.
PP: Unsharp mask, cropped, hue saturation, selective color to adjust lightness and tones. Then a desaturated hue/saturation layer to bring into black and white. A curves layer for highlights then faded to 84%. A gradient map faded to 83% then another curve for conrast. Resized and ran through neat image. resized again and unsharp mask. save for web.
I really like this one and hope it does well, but can't tell if what I have been shooting lately is what will score well.

WAY underrated in my opinion. This is indeed a gorgeous B&W photograph. I quite like the lines of it, the composition in general, AND the hole in your jeans (and I didn't even read the title until just now.) Very nice work - quite often the best work is unappreciated in the two-second viewing pass (or so I like to tell myself, anyway!)

Very nice lines.

In my humble opinion, I find the hole in the jeans quite distracting as it seems to be quite strongly focussed. I think I'd prefer the hand to the main focus.

Excellent leading lines and very interesting composition (even the holy pants!). B&W was clearly the way to go here. Very nicely done. Bumping to 8.

Cropping the left side to remove OOF would enhance this image. Nice job with the range of grays.

Now this is interesting! Not sure if the rip is distracting me or if it adds interest, but pulls me away from the fingers. (But you can't remove a leg, lol.) 7
