 Underside of a fig leaf, shot with the 105mm macro and a 36mm extension tube. I saw a leaf macro shot on another site that was awesome and tried to duplicate the effect, but i couldn't get the lighting right, and the fig leaf wasn't a good substitute for whatever the other shooter used. Too fuzzy :). But this shot was entertaining to me.

Crop, levels, brightness/contrast adjustment, shadows/highlights, selective color, resize, sharpen, save for web.

Critique Club Review:

Color, saturation, and hue are done well. Lighting, brightness and contrast are good also.

Definetly meets the challenge. It took a moment to figure out what this was.

I really like the texture of this photo. It is so intricate that it can hold the viewer's attention for a long time.

I do find the leaf veins below the main vein to be more interesting than the veins in the upper half of the picture. I would recommend shooting a little further down the leaf as I think the lower veins give more interest by being larger and more plentiful. The upper half, while interesting, does seem to have less detail.

I think also, that a complimentary border would have helped this picture.

I know it's macro...I really get that feeling...but, it also gives hints of great distance...like a satelite photo looking down on earth...nice job! 9

This is a great shot and very much syncs with the assignment of it being something you won't recognize at first. It's my third take and I'm still not sure it's really organic. Is it a leaf? Or a 22nd century energy pipeline running through an Amazon forest of undeveloped suburban housing lots? Really nice shot.

This is really nice. Try cropping it just below the white line, I think it's stronger that way.
