I wanted to bring out the sun as the main subject because it's pretty old. So, took a snapshot using a tree to diffuse the sun a bit. Then, added a new layer, with a orangy color. Blended it in using "Color Burn" and flattened. I suspect this picture will get bad ratings since it's not blatantly obvious as to the focus of the shot. I'm hoping the title will make it clear for everyone. This shot was taken with a Tiffen #87 filter on. But it's very hard to tell since the tree is so dark.

yes, I suppose the sun does qualify as old. you had to mention it in the title, though, or you knew people wouldn't get it. it's a good twist on the theme of "old". also a nice shot. the colors are the best part. I also like the little ray of light coming out of the top.

Love the colour.

Good photo. Sepia tone is the only indication of age, though.

i like the shot but it doesnt say "old"

I don't think the way the title links this to the theme really works for me - The link to the theme I would go for would be that since a tree in itself is something old and something which can often outlive a man it has it's own age. But that's just me...

nice photo but i wouldnt egt the connection without the title

Cool shot, but I'm just not feeling it relate to the challenge.

ummm, nope, not much appeals to me, arrangement is uninteresting - too dark - I don't like the color, the sun has too many bright spots and the "jesus light" is chopped off, the cloud in the right corner is distracting, sorry.. I like some of the tree in the top right, maybe you could experiment with recropping and get a better photo.

I really like the color tones on this, and the single ray of light at the top. I think more sky and less tree might have been better, unless there was something really boring up there. karmat

too much explanation to be part of the theme.

i'd love to have seen this shot with infrared. you can do that with digital cameras, you know?

It's bold, it's dead cheeky, and it flies in the face of the challenge... But, the sun is, without doubt, old... I'm scoring 10 for this; it's a shot I'd wished I'd thought of, and you've executed it with skill. Even the title has put a smile on my face - will others see it this way? If they do it'll win hands down... Good luck...
