thanks for being so honest in your comments above...I was really sorry to see this dqd as it's a great image...my only thoughts is that it may have not suited a high contrast challenge, but it seems your position at 21st proved me wrong...good luck for the future...and I hope you don't stay in that big hole for too long :-) |

The 'Diffuse Glow' effect is subtle enough, and probably alters the image less than sharpening. To me, the DQ takes nothing away, neither ranking nor honour. Like everyone else, I respect the rules for the purpose they serve. Here their interpretation interferes with my perception of what's natural and appropriate. |

Classic example IMO. Great job of controlling the light on her hair, and yet maintaining strong shadow areas. Top of my list so far. |

while it is a nice portrait with great lighting...is it high contrast in the true sense of high contrast? perhaps not |
