Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: shed in backyard
Date: Oct 2, 2006
Aperture: f5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/50 sec
Date Uploaded: Oct 4, 2006

My husband working to rebuild the shed in our backyard; he is a carpenter by trade, also...I wanted to highlight his back and especially, his hand and arm...the vertical grain just seemed to add something intangible to the image when it was applied, so I did keep it...taken at sunset with sunlight hitting a few areas in the shed...levels, curves, shadow/highlight, vertical grain, multiply adjustment layer, usm, cropped.

I think this would have been stronger without the vertical streaks.

I like this - though those triations will attract much criticism i don't doubt, and I admit they are confusing. The 'light' is unsettling - actually, the more I look, the more it unsettles - because of its unnaturalness, rather than its selectivity. The fade to black and the highlights just don't seem real. It was attractive at first, but it begins to annoy quite quickly now.

I really like the lighting and the composition on this but am not so sure about the filter.

I don't like the distracting vertical lines (in the original or added in?) I like the dark treatment.

The line texture was a nice touch.

I like this but the grain texture doesn't add. It doesn't really detract either, so no points off for it. I like the minimal coloration. The diagonal line of the 2 X 4 adds a nice bit of geometry.

don't know if its legal, but the filtering adds the perfect touch to this
