Could have done with a faster shutter so the handle wasn't so blurred/transparent by the movement.

nice idea, meets the challenge; don't like the composition 4 sjgleah

I really like the handle motion, good effect! Seems a bit red/orange, but so much of the rest seems "right", I am guessing that is how it really looks. Was the water drinkable? Probably couldn't avoid the fence, would have rather not seen it. All in all, there's nothing critically wrong with this shot, nice job! 8 Swash

so that's where water comes from ... was the water that came out really as clear as it looks? My eye does not find a clear focus in this picture, partly due to too many objects, and partly lack of contrast. You might have tried to get in closer and omit the drain and fence and blurry end of the handle.

A striaght-on shot from a different direction would have made this very appealing. The chain link fence in the background leads my mind astray from the age of the hand pump. The out of focus handle also distracts my vision from the center of the picture.

This one might have been better B/W. Since all colors are close in this one, the eye is a little confused.

This picture appears to have been over processed with your computer program. I would also suggest that if it were possible that you move around to eliminate the small sappling and as much fence as you can. The pump is very intereting and the other things distract and hurt your picture. Autool

This is a nice example of 'old' for sure... the motion blur adds a nice touch as well... my critique on this image lies in contrast and the background. Your subject doesn't stand out against this background... it blends in too much and it's difficult to 'see' because of this. I don't know if there would have been a better angle for this photo or not... - jmsetzler

Part of this photo should probably be the subject and focused on rather than the whole thing.

Is that desaturated colors? I like the effect. I think the picture could be improved overall by using a different angle that showed more water and less chain-link fence. Otherwise, a great shot!

I think this would have been a lot better if it could have been shot without the chain link fence in the background.

I love the reddish tint in the shot – it gives a rust effect and creates atmosphere. Overall, it looks old – you may find people comment on sharpness, but I for one think it would lose personality it were sharp. It looks like it's a deliberate attempt to look older, so, I'm going to mark as suchâ€Â¦ (9) Great shotâ€Â¦

The handle to the right is not very clear. Nice picture though. mj 5

nice job with the rust color

The auto focus seems to have locked on the fence. The pumpitself is fuzzy---and I don't mean the handle. I can see that the handle was moving when the pix was snapped thats not a problem.

Good subject, but fades into the background. More contrast would have more impact.
