Great landscape, I like the building.

nice subject matter. i think small tweeks in levels/contrast would make the building 'pop' more.

Nice irony, too.

This is a good photo of a desert landscape, although it's softness belies the harshness of the desert; some contrast and sharpness would really improve it. And I wish the sky was a bit darker so the clouds would be more visible. The perspective lines of the building draw the eye to the barren landscape, which is the real center of interest in this image. Yet without the building, the photo would be as boring as the vast desert it portrays. And the building itself is quite interesting visually, with its various textures and colors. This makes the overall composition work very well.

Without the title this might not be an interesting photo, but with the title it's very good. It says quite a bit.

Well done. I like all the empty space around the lone building.

This meets the challenge. The land is so barren though, it lacks interest. It's a technically accurate depiction of what you saw.

This would probably fit into the journalistic category of documenting. Very sad shot isn't it. All this meant in a good way.

This picture makes me want to give fifty bucks to UNICEF and then rent mad max. Nice foreground subject placement and you really convey the feeling of abject poverty. Two things... no city, and that sky is the color of any partly sunny New Jersey sky- you just would expect more from an "Africa shot."

I really liked this photo. It captured the desolation and struggle for life in Africa for me. Just hints at 'urban' life, as well as can be created with little resources there. I also like how atypical it is when one thinks of an urban landscape. Nice job, gave an 8

Despite the desolation of this shot it really appeals to me and for me, personally defines the challenge! The cropping is excellent, the desolation, the overall abandonment feeling you get just jumps out at me. This is one of my favorites and gets the best score from me.

Stark and sad, yet there's a kind of beauty in the picture - the sky, colors and textures.

I am sure that you will get a lot of slack around this not being 'urban' enough, but I love this shot. I have wanted to go to africa for a long time now, and this is what i envision it to be like. I think the composition and the lighting are very well done and I love the empty vast space surrounding the dwelling. My only slight criticism would be the object in the lower right corner to crop out perhaps? very nice shot

This would have, in my opinoin, been great for the desolation contest. I do like it as well for this contest.
